Columbia Fields - Bridging the Gap
By Alan | July 7, 2009
Finally, after about about 9 months in the making we are almost complete with the new Columbia Fields album BRIDGING THE GAP. I believe we started recording in September of 2008, and final mixes our now being completed by Enoch Jenson (Kings of Leon, Hillary Duff, Guitar Hero) and we have plans to master with Evran Goknar (Red Hot Chillipeppers).
All the extra hard work paid off and both the band and myself seem to be very psyched about the mixes and the final product. Enoch recorded the bands previous release When Night Falls and mixed the album at his Eastlake Recording Studio in Northern Mass.
Im sure the band will post some tunes on their myspace page within the next few weeks, as well as details about the CD release. I ended up playing electric guitar on every song, adding a little ambiance and some solos. I think it sounds pretty cool.
Now its time to take some time off before I dive into working on the next Rane album, while juggling the possibility of tracking new tunes with David Cain and his new band, as well as a new project by Bill Carleton.
I also snuck in a quick recording of one tune for Bill Carleton in June that im sure he will post on his website in the new few weeks.
Also, within the next few weeks I will be posting some cool photos and details about my new custom guitar rig that was built for me by my old friend Andy Hobbs from Elemantal instruments. I was also loaned a very cool piece called the Hydra Tube Splitter from my friend Oliver Archut at AMI/TAB Funkenwerk. More on those toys in the near future……..
over and out for now.
